Oyo Govt empowers women in 33 LGAs with household and business amenities


The Oyo state government on Wednesday launched the first phase of an intervention program aimed at empowering at least fifty women in each local government area in the state to ensure self-reliance and improve their livelihoods.

The empowerment initiative facilitated by the Ministry of State for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion in collaboration with the Federal Ministry for Women Affairs has been launched at Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba.

The Oyo State Governor’s wife, Mrs. Olufunke Tamonominini Makinde, symbolically presenting household and business amenities to the beneficiaries, encouraged them to use the items to improve their finances, support their families and contribute to the economic development of the state. ‘State.

While listing some of the items distributed including gas cylinders, dryers, sewing machines, freezers, Ms. Makinde appealed to the beneficiaries not to sell the equipment but to use it for personal use.

Earlier in their various remarks, the Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Inclusion, Alhaja Kafilat Olayiwola and the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Ms. Grace Oderinde, noted that the current administration will always prioritize welfare and concerns of people, especially women in the state, calling for collaboration and support for women in achieving governance objectives.
