New GST rates on household goods set to strain your kitchen budget from Monday: The Tribune India

Prices for several household items like packaged curd, lassi, buttermilk, paneer, wheat and rice will rise while banking services and hospital room rent will become more expensive from Monday after rates GST were increased for several items at the 47th Goods and Services Tax Meeting in Chandigarh last month.

Products such as curds, lassi, buttermilk, paneer, wheat, rice, etc., which are prepackaged and labeled, will be subject to 5% GST from July 18.

At its 47th meeting, the GST Council chaired by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman withdrew the tax exemptions on these items. Now, these products will have a GST rate from the current zero.

The 18% GST will be imposed on roads, bridges, railways, the subway, the effluent treatment plant and the crematorium.

Household items (5% GST)

Curd, Lassi, Buttermilk and Paneer

Jaggery of all types

natural honey

Rice, Wheat, Rye, Barley, Oats

Wheat and meslin flour

Tender coconut water (12% GST)

Other Daily Use Items

LED lights, ink, knives, blades, pencil sharpener, metal circuit board (18%)

Motor pumps, bicycle pumps, dairy machines (18%)

Agricultural machinery (18%)

Checks (18%)

Solar water heater (12%)

Room rent, excluding intensive care, above Rs 5,000 per day (5%)

State works contract for earthworks (12%)
