Jesse Lingard’s West Ham loan deal includes ‘hidden clause’
According to The daily mail, United could earn £ 500,000 from West Ham if they qualify for European competition by the end of the season.
The London club have shelled out £ 1.5million on Lingard’s loan fees, in addition to covering the entire United player’s £ 100,000-a-week salary.
Lingard, who will wear the No.11 jersey at West Ham, will remain on loan at the Hammers until the end of the season.
And the new West Ham boy has reunited with West Ham boss David Moyes, who he worked with during the Scottish United’s doom.
Lingard said West Ham Television: “I’m excited. It’s another new chapter in my life.
“Nothing is guaranteed but I came here to work hard, to help the team and to bring my experience. That is the main goal.
“I just want to enjoy my football, start playing again and get back on the pitch.
“There were a lot of clubs involved but, for me personally, I felt it was the right decision. I obviously had a previous relationship with the manager as he was at Man U and I’ve played under him, so he knows my qualities and what I can bring to the team.
“I also know a few players – I know Dec [Rice] very good on the English side – and I feel like I can really settle down here quickly. ”
Lingard praised his relationship with Moyes and insisted he wanted “to help the team move up the standings as far as possible”.
The 28-year-old explained: “It’s important that a player and a manager have a good relationship.
“He has a very good character, he makes his team work hard and I have already discussed with him and there are no guarantees – it’s up to me to put the work in and put the transplant on, to get into team and play well week after week.
“I can’t wait to show [the West Ham fans] what I have in store. I’m excited and want to help the team move up the standings as far as they can. ”
