She said when she first met her 27-year-old partner he was a college student focusing on studies rather than finding a job, but now that he’s finished school he’s refused to find work.

“I tried to talk to him about helping around the house, but he claims he forgets. When I suggest putting chores on the fridge, he says it’s humiliating,” she explained.

“The thing is, I have internet because I pay all the bills. I could conceivably turn off his internet until the chores are done, but I think that’s what you do with the children.”

The solution the wife found was to “pay” her husband with hours of video gaming for the chores he does.

That way he works around the house and he can still play his precious video games,” she said.

“I explained what I thought was reasonable compensation for chores, because it’s not that hard to wash the dishes 90 minutes, take out the trash 30 minutes, put away the laundry 2 hours, stuff like that .

“He’s yelling at me, it’s even more demeaning and childish and I’m a big a**hole to even think that.”

She posted on Reddit to find out what other people thought. She shared that their friends were divided, with some finding it hilarious and justified, while others said she was controlling.

I explained what I thought was reasonable compensation for chores, because it’s not that hard to wash the dishes for 90 minutes, take out the garbage for 30 minutes, put away the laundry for 2 hours just like that.

The woman went on to explain that since he is an only child, he would inherit everything from his parents, but she never wanted to “catch” his money.

Reddit users were quick to share their thoughts on the situation in the comments.

“She treats him like a child because he acts like one. And he seems like he has no desire to change (and no incentive to do so). Why live like this? If you have to do all the chores of anyway, at least only do them for one person,” one person commented.

“Yeah… sure, it’s childish.” This grown man doesn’t do his chores and just wants to play games all day,” another commenter said.

Someone else added: ‘If you have to resort to treating someone like a child just to meet basic needs, the relationship is already doomed.’
