According to the Federal Reserve, US household debt reached $ 14.6 trillion in spring 2021. This debt is spread over 340 million people.
But when discussing debt, it’s not only important to note that every American is in debt for different reasons – whether it’s student loans or credit card debt – but also that there are different degrees of financial literacy.
And then there is also the question of how minority groups are reached either through education on financial literacy or through access to people within financial institutions.
However, for the LGBTQ community, this is where The Debt Free Guys comes in.
David and John started Debt Free Guys because they were both in debt. And they realized that they were both in debt after starting to see each other.

This episode was filmed at the end of June, just as Pride Month was drawing to a close. So, as a community member myself, I had to ask them what they think of American companies getting into Pride. Are American companies doing more than just turning their logos into glowing rainbows?
