The Parish Government of Ascension will accept household hazardous waste from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 1 at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center.

The event is free for residents of Ascension Parish. The exhibit center is at 9039 St. Landry Road, Gonzales.

“We are so happy to be able to offer this day to our residents. The goal of this administration is to continue to provide the means for the safe and responsible disposal of hazardous materials. This keeps them out of landfills, waterways and other places that we constantly work hard to protect Ascension Parish,” said Ascension Parish President Clint Cointment.

Items such as tires, appliances, electronics, batteries and paint are accepted. Items such as explosive or radioactive materials, paper, aluminum and plastic are not accepted.

A full list can be viewed in the attached flyer, posted on the parish website and Facebook page.

This event is open to residents of Ascension Parish only, so attendees should be prepared to show proper identification, including residential address.
