Arsenal ‘accept loan transfer for Lucas Torreira’ paving way for Houssem Aouar move
Arsenal have reportedly reached a loan deal with Atletico Madrid for Lucas Torreira.
This decision will free up funds for the Gunners and allow them to reach their main target this summer, Houssem Aouar of Lyon.
Atletico have yet to offload Hector Herrera before they can officially confirm that the Torreira deal has been done.
Arsenal was looking for a buyer for Torreira, which was deemed surplus to needs in north London by boss Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners slapped a £ 22million price tag on the Uruguayan’s head amid interest from Roma and Turin.
But neither club was ready to pay that amount, prompting Arsenal to make Torreira available for loan.

La Liga giants Atletico have moved to the front of the line to sign the midfielder for the season, and according to the Spanish publication AS, have now reached a deal with Arsenal.
Atletico have the option of definitively signing Torreira for £ 22million at the end of the season, if the loan move works. But they have no obligation to do so.
As soon as Torreira is out of Arsenal’s payroll, the club can try to get Aouar’s deal to the line.
So far, the Gunners have seen offers for the midfielder rejected by Lyon, but the Ligue 1 club chief has since hinted that the Frenchman may leave.
“From Friday evening, when Rudi [Garcia] will choose his team against Marseille, there will be no starts, ”said Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas.
“We could see ourselves losing two players.”
